Carabiners & maillons

Karabiners and Quicklinks / Maillons (see Maillon) come in many shapes and sizes. CanyonZone.com has carabiners for canyoning, caving, climbing and via ferrata.
A carabiner, also known as a carabiner or carabiner, is a hook where the opening can be closed.

The most important characteristics are the shape, whether or not there is a security lock on it and the material (aluminum or steel)

  • The shapes are: D-shaped, Oval and pear-shaped (often called HMS carabiner). HMS carabiners are suitable for use in combination with a belay device.
  • A locking clasp can be a screw lock (screw lock (manual)) but also a twist lock clasp (automatic lock) or self-locking carabiner, such as the ball lock clasp
  • The material is especially important for the weight and the corrosion sensitivity.

Not all carabiners are suitable for every activity, let CanyonZone inform you if you wish.

For protection and anti twist see: Rope & webbing / Rope Accessories.
For maintenance see: Repair & Maintenance

Common features of all carabiners:

  • Safety: Locking mechanisms such as screw lock or automatic lock.
  • Strength: Minimum 20 kN load capacity for intensive use.
  • Durability: Materials and coatings that are resistant to corrosion, water, or dirt.

Each carabiner is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the respective area of use. Always choose a carabiner that is suitable for your activity and meets the applicable standards.
