This book is the new edition of the topographic guide to the canyons of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Completely redesigned, it now offers 39 descents in the Basque Country, the Gave d'Aspe Valley, and the Ossau Valley. After providing a summary of safety rules, the history of explorations, and a general description of the region's geological and environmental characteristics, the book presents fact sheets dedicated to the different sites.
Unlike the 2013 edition, instead of a description of access, the reader now has a map showing the location of the canyon, including parking, departure, arrival, trails, approach, and more. The topographic profile has also been updated. The cards, presented in a modern style, offer at a glance the technical characteristics of the planned descent, thanks to icons that Descente-Canyon.com regulars will recognize. A concise text introduces the descent, specifying its vertical, aquatic nature, and its commitment. Finally, numerous photos illustrate the book.
Note that each page has a QR code. This provides access to GPX tracks of possible access and return routes. What's more, all text is available in English, Spanish, and even Basque!
