Descenso de gargantas y barrancos en GREDOS y alrededores

Guide to Canyoning in Gredos by Rubén Rua Munoz, Ana Jiménez Lopez

Language(s): Spanish

The Sierra de Gredos is a mountain range in Spain belonging to the Central System, located between the provinces of Ávila, Cáceres, Madrid and Toledo. Its highest point is the Almanzor peak, in the province of Ávila, at 2591 meters above sea level. It includes a regional park. Gredos is the main massif of the Central System.
Naturally, there are many waterways that have dug the granite to form waterfalls, gorges and canyons.

This modern topoguide, all in Spanish, is very complete. It presents, for each canyon, one or more photos, a topographic profile, a map with the accesses, a description composed of a summary, a description of the approach, the descent and the return. Icons specify the particularities of each course and we find the technical characteristics of the canyon in an obvious way (time of approach, descent, return, maximum abseiling, useful ropes, possible regulations, necessary shuttle, notable dangers...). Finally a QRCode allows to load the GPX traces possibly useful for the accesses.

The beginning of the book is embellished with a short presentation on the local fauna, flora and geology. A general map allows you to locate the canyons in one of the 6 sectors. Finally, at the end of the works, a summary table of all the descents with the main technical characteristics and of interest allows a quick choice of descents.
