Overview

Etché Mic Canyon shoes

The Mic Canyon is a rubber speleo- and canyon shoe with very good grip on wet, loose surfaces. This shoe has no lining.

Originally for canyoning but also entirely suitable for caving, these are an abrasion resistant and generally rugged set of footwear built to the same specification as the boots, but with four lace holes, and a slit and reinforced achilles, with an overall height of just under eight inches.

As with the boots, they have a very grippy tread. There is no footplate or steel toecap, but protection is good especially across the toe box. Walking boot insoles are a great aid to comfort in these, as in all caving boots – how many shoes do you have, now, without insoles?

The lace up ankle makes for greater support, and prevents grit entering easily (especially compared to cut-down wellies). They drain immediately and feel a lot lighter than full-size boots – an advantage in long aqueous trips, and also where there is a lot of SRT to do.

(See the relevant section in ‘Alpine Caving Techniques’ for a fuller discussion of footwear for expedition use)

NB with regard to back orders, we re-order about twice year; if you are going to  order a boot which is out of stock it’s good to contact us about timescale for delivery.
